Common Misconceptions for First-Time Movers

At Atlanta Peach Movers we have been moving since the 1980’s. With over 30 years of proven experience in the Atlanta area, a fleet of 38 vehicles and thousands of satisfied customers, we are your first choice for local, regional, national and even international moves. Over the past three decades we have observed some of the most common misconceptions surrounding first-time movers. It’s time to debunk these misunderstandings to help ease some of that first-time moving stress!

Misconception #1: All moving companies are the same

All moving companies are unique in their service offerings. This is one of the most common misconceptions that can end up making a move so much more difficult than it needs to be! Make sure to look for companies that fit your needs. Not all companies will move internationally or out of the states. Look for companies with proper insurance, storage facilities, and moving vehicles. Most importantly make sure you move with a company that has a long standing reputation.

Misconception #2: Moving companies normally break your things

Many people assume that using a moving company will lead to their favorite items being broken. This is not the case at Atlanta Peach Movers. At Atlanta Peach Movers we create a red carpet experience for your move. Our state of the art training center ensures that movers are ready for every item in your home so that it arrives safely at your destination. Learn more or get a free quote today by visiting our website!

Misconception #3: Any box is okay to use for moving

Using the wrong packing material can lead to drops and breakages. Make sure to work with a moving company that can provide quality standardized boxes. If you are buying boxes on your own, look for boxes that are about 22 x 22 x 21.5 inches for large items such as decorative pillows, bath towels, and blankets. Boxes around 18 x 18 x 15 inches are suitable for toys, office materials, small appliances, and decorations. For smaller items use packaging boxes around 16 x 12 x 12 inches to move books, dishes, glasses, movies, and food. Consider using specialized boxes with extra protection for fragile items such as electronics and dishes.

A hack we recommend is using wardrobe boxes for clothes. Home Depot offers a tall wardrobe box with a hanging bar in the middle for clothes to hang on so that they don’t become wrinkled or dirty during the move.

Misconception #4: Moving companies will move everything you own

This statement is fully dependent on the moving company. Some companies will not move food, plants, antiques, paint, grills, or cleaning supplies. If you need to move a speciality item make sure to contact the moving company first to ensure that they can fill all of your moving needs.

At Atlanta Peach Moving company we are happy to move your antiques, paints, grills, or cleaning supplies; however, we will not move perishables, plants and cribs. We are renowned for our white glove treatment when it comes to moving antiques. If you are worried about moving something specific, just give us a call and we would be happy to help!

Misconception #5: Moving companies will only help with the moving process

Another one of the most common misconceptions is that moving is just bringing your things from point A to point B. Your things need to be packed, stored, and organized as well. Paperwork, insurance and visas can also be a hassle so it is important to pick a moving company that will help with more than just moving.

For instance, Atlanta Peach Movers has packing and unpacking services available along with specially trained relocation experts available to assist with paperwork, insurance, or visas.

From boxes of all sizes and types to tape and packing peanuts; from shrink wrap to moving pads; we have everything you need to protect your belongings for the big move. For your fragile dishes, we have specialty dish boxes available, with all the wrapping paper you need to keep your dishes and glasses safe. We can even offer helpful advice as to how to avoid overpacking, or how to organize your boxes so you can find them when you need them in your new place.

If you would rather us do the packing we can safely pack and unpack your items so that your move in day is stress free. We will even dispose of waste and unwanted boxes after the move is finished so that your home is ‘move in ready’. Items we pack for you are insured against loss during the time of the move.
